Hey, I’m Eric! I'm a high school and middle school tutor in Mukwonago, WI. I've tutored for many years through Wyzant, Care.com, and most recently at Scottsdale Education Center in Arizona (before moving back here to Wisconsin).

I specialize in math, ACT prep, and iOS development, but I can definitely help in other core subjects as well, including English, science, reading, essay writing, and general CS.

Back in high school, I maintained a 4.3 GPA, earned a perfect 36 on the ACT in Math, scored 5s on both AP Calculus I and II, and completed numerous other AP classes in science, English, and history as well.

I’m also a professional iOS developer. I've sold three of my own apps after they reached ~100k downloads each, so if your student wants to learn computer programming or build an app of their own, I'd love to help!

Services

Subjects I tutor

I specialize in math, ACT prep, and iOS development, but I can definitely help in other core subjects as well, including English, science, reading, essay writing, and general CS.

Math

Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calc, Calc I and II

I help your student actually understand the material so they can solve any similar problem, not just memorize solutions.

ACT Prep

Math, Science, English, Reading, Essays

In high school I scored a perfect 36 on the ACT in Math, and a 33 superscore for all subjects. I’ll teach the strategies I used, such as: how to think about a problem, how to solve faster (in many cases through guess and check), and how to use your graphing calculator to your advantage.

iOS development

Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode

From opening your first Xcode project to shipping a real app to the App Store to ASO and marketing strategies, I can guide you towards making your very own successful app – which would look great on a college resume!

Computer science

Android, Java, HTML & CSS

Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, Java, and the web fundamentals behind a lot of intro CS courses. Good for class, internships, or building something of your own.

Science

Physics and some Chemistry

I took AP Physics in high school. I can help with homework, test prep, and love ACT prep for Science.

English/Reading

Essay Writing, Reading, Core Skills

I earned a 5 in AP English, and a 33 on the English section of the ACT, so English and Reading ACT prep is right up my alley. I also love writing, and can help your student improve their essay writing skills.

What students say

I was given a thorough and well mapped out intro and immediate application of Xcode. Thorough explanations and knowledgeable execution of the basics. I learned an incredible amount in only a short amount of time.
Bruce · Getting started with iOS
Eric helped me break down code my college instructor left unfinished — including warning errors the instructor couldn’t solve or explain. He also gave me hints on Xcode that really opened things up. Money well spent. 10/10.
Tia · Self-taught Swift, college coursework
Helped me with app design for a game, including topics I didn’t understand going in. Very patient and thorough going through code and explaining what I didn’t know.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What sets me apart from other tutors?+

In college as a mechanical engineering undergrad, I struggled because a lot of professors didn’t take the time to teach. They expected us to read the textbook and just get it, and that’s not how everyone learns. I believe any student has the aptitude; they just have to be presented with the material in a way that clicks for them. Everyone learns differently, and that’s one of my strengths: I teach in a way that fits the individual, especially in math.

And last but not least, I keep sessions fun so students actually enjoy coming to tutoring!

Where do tutoring sessions happen?+

Mukwonago Community Library, or I can drive to your home or have online sessions when that’s easier (additional travel fee may apply). Text me and we can figure out a place that works best.

What days and times do you tutor?+

Weekdays 3–7 PM. Other days/times by appointment.

What age groups do you work with?+

I specialize in high school and middle school, but I can definitely help with elementary all the way through college as well. I also work with adults who want to learn iOS development. Feel free to reach out and ask if I cover a subject or age group.

Can you help me build an app?+

Definitely! I can start you from zero in Swift and SwiftUI, work through a class project, or talk through shipping something of your own. I’ve launched around 10 apps on the App Store personally.

How much do tutoring sessions cost?+

Sessions start at $35/hour. The exact rate can depend on the subject and travel. Text me and we can finalize a plan that works for both of us.

What’s the cancellation policy?+

Please give at least one hour’s notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
